Mirror Proxy Chrome extension

Last updated:

Summary: Mirror Proxy is a browser-only HTTP proxy switcher. Your proxy credentials and settings stay on your device (and optionally in your signed-in Chrome sync storage). The extension does not send your data to the developer's servers. When you run a connection check, requests go directly from your browser to public IP lookup services.

1. Who we are

Mirror Proxy is developed by Andrei B ("we", "us"). This policy describes how the extension handles information.

2. What Mirror Proxy does

The extension lets you save a list of HTTP proxies, choose an active proxy, and route Chrome browser traffic only through that proxy. It can verify the exit IP, country, and response time when you use Check or enable the proxy.

Mirror Proxy is not a VPN service and does not provide proxy servers. You supply your own proxy endpoints and credentials.

3. Information stored on your device

The extension stores the following locally in chrome.storage.local on your computer:

  • Proxy list: host, port, username, password, optional display name
  • Which proxy is selected and whether the proxy is enabled
  • Last check results: exit IP, country/city label, country code, ping (ms), timestamp
  • An automatic local backup copy of your proxy list and settings

You can export or import this data manually as a JSON backup file from the extension popup. That file stays under your control.

4. Optional Chrome sync backup

If your backup is small enough (under Chrome's sync size limit), the extension may also store a copy in chrome.storage.sync. That data is handled by Google Chrome under your Google account and may sync across browsers where you are signed in and sync is enabled.

We do not operate that sync service. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google processes synced extension data.

5. What we do not collect

  • No accounts or registration inside the extension
  • No analytics, advertising, or crash reporting to the developer
  • No transmission of your proxy list or credentials to andydev.space or any server operated by the developer
  • No sale or sharing of personal data for marketing

6. Third-party services (connection check only)

When you click Check, enable the proxy (if a refresh runs), or otherwise trigger an IP verification, the extension sends requests from your browser to these third parties:

ServicePurposeData sent
api.ipify.orgDetect your public exit IP addressStandard HTTP request; response returns an IP address. Traffic goes through your selected proxy when the proxy is active.
ipwho.isGeolocation label for the exit IP (country, city)The IP address returned by the check above

These services are independent third parties. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We do not control what they log or retain.

7. Your proxy provider

When the proxy is enabled, your browsing traffic is routed through the proxy server you configured (for example, a commercial proxy provider). That provider may log connections, IPs, and credentials according to its own terms and privacy policy. Mirror Proxy only configures Chrome to use your chosen server; it does not operate proxy infrastructure.

8. Permissions and why they are used

  • proxy — apply your selected HTTP proxy to Chrome only
  • storage / unlimitedStorage — save your proxy list and settings locally
  • webRequest + webRequestAuthProvider — supply proxy username/password for authenticated proxies (handled inside Chrome; not sent to us)
  • <all_urls> — required so proxy authentication and checks work across sites you visit; the extension does not read or exfiltrate page content to the developer

9. Data retention and deletion

  • Data remains until you remove proxies, import a new backup, uninstall the extension, or clear extension storage in Chrome
  • Uninstalling Mirror Proxy removes locally stored extension data from that profile
  • Sync copies follow Chrome sync settings and Google account controls

10. Children

Mirror Proxy is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this page when the extension changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
